Living simply in an over-complicated world
August 11, 2010 in Bikes, Germany, Xtracycle
Pedestrians all seem to like the Xtracycle. The nice lady in the background told me three times that it’s ‘Geil’ (cool), fortunately she didn’t notice the mudguards were stuck on with gaffer tape.
Car drivers don’t usually say nice things, oddly.

I get lots of comments on my long bike. The other bikes not so much.

Hi Richard… I find that too- the Bakfiets gets possibly more comments than the Xtracycle, although that’s probably the cute boys inside.

Car drivers are probably too busy with their own things – like frustration and haste.
That could be it, well, that and the fact I’m often slowing them down by 0.65432 seconds.

Same happens to me when riding my Yuba Mundo.
“Geiles Rad”, “Kann man da viel laden…”
[Cool bike, how big is the load capacity] –> by the way 200kg:-)
Usually carorists show me the finger.
Would love to meet people with similar ideas like me
in the Stuttgart / Ludwigsburg region.

Hi Holger, and thanks for the comment… We’re in the UK at the moment, but we could try and meet up when we get back. I’ll email when we get home.
