The bike shop isolated the clunking as a rogue bearing in the 11 year old freewheel. €12 later and my bike is running as sweet as before. That bottom bracket and front mech will need a bit of work soon though. The back mudguard/fender is attached. The stays needed shortening a bit to fit under the Xtracycle and judging by the work needed to cut them (Three different types of bolt cropper, one large hacksaw and ten minutes  attacking each stay) I’m beginning to think these German made versions are better than the old ones from the UK. The front will take a bit more work though before it’ll fit under the extra strengthener I have on the front brakes, but at least I can now ride in the wet without wondering if I’m messing up the Xtracycle.

Time to get the map out.
