Fun on a tram...

With impeccable timing the Xtracycle’s ancient, unsealed bottom bracket decided to make creaking noises and the front mech shifter wire snapped just as I’d fitted the new handlebars and the bike shop closed for Christmas. We limped around the village on seven gears for a bit but until I found a spare cable in the tool box we had to rely on public transport to go further afield, so when we were invited to visit friends on Boxing Day (Second day of Christmas here) we went bus and tram. In the last few months I’ve got rather used to travelling by Xtracycle so it was a bit odd following a timetable again, but the system was (as usual) punctual, clean, and warm. Best of all, the tram driver invited Eldest Son into the cab and allowed him to ring the warning bell. I’m not complaining…

The lack of posts isn’t directly because of the broken bike, more the lack of time over this season: of course, when I did have time, fixing the bike seemed a sensible idea. More on that later…
