Winter doesn’t drop hints here, it turns up overnight.
And then after you clear it, it comes along and does it all again.
That was two hours ago and it’s still going strong.
But it’s the shortest day of the year: the only way is up*…
*Unless you’re in the southern hemisphere, in which case, let the gloating begin.

That looks lovely and seasonal…but not a lot of fun. The shortest day…whee! Roll on spring, the new summer. It’s rain, rain, rain here in North Wales.

Funny I just made a very similar post just yesterday, but we had a little bit more sunshine after.

If I never experience snow again it will be too soon. 65F-18C here at 0700 this morning. A light rain over night has everything damp and it is not unusually this time of year to have a fire early in the morning and be in shorts at noon.

Ian Robinson: There’s a conflict of interest in the People Powered household when it snows: the Boys love it, bbut they don’t have to clear it or cycle in it.
Ken B: We get the odd burst of sunshine at the moment. Fortunately it rained the day after I took the pictures which got rid of the snow.
Oldfool: I can live with snow when it’s not my turn to clear it. At least the cars slow down…

You’re lucky. Here in Holland we have 10C and a bit of a drizzle. Not overly festive.

Great pic’s thank you for the posts, time and effort. It’s an unusual warm 47 degrees here in S.E. Michigan (USA) We could actually ride the bikes if we wanted, but have been walking instead. There is something viscerally rewarding about self propelled transportation, especially when it should be below freezing!

Nice photos!
It’s nearly the same here as in Holland. We will spend Christmas above zero. But I don’t complain because I would have to clear the sidewalk, too. And I like bike riding more than walking.

Hello Frits: Drizzle is rotten for cycling: it seems to make everything damp enough to make your bike filthy but not enough to move the crud of the roads.
Annalee: Glad you appreciate the pictures: the neighbours think I’m a bit strange, but then they think that anyway.
Zweiradler: The boys were dissapointed when it all melted wothing the week, but I was happy to be able to go cycling without wondering if the wheels would stay on the road…
Tony: Thanks. It looks pretty but it’s heavy. I sometimes wonder if a sled would be more sensible than a bicycle around here…
